To Say? or Not to Say?

I have been thinking about this post for several weeks now and decided that I should just go ahead and post it because I may not remember these things in the future.

While going through this pregnancy I quickly learned many people like to say things to you whether you want to hear them or not.  Now, for the most part people have been very kind and said nice things, but yes, there are people out there that like to say what is on their mind and not think twice about it. I would like to share a few examples.  Oh...and people are very quick to give their opinions whether you want them or not.

"You look like you exploded!"  Thanks I really appreciate this comment.  If I weren't pregnant would you tell me I was fat?

"Are you sure you aren't having twins?" Well, according to the ultra sound technician there is only one in there, but you are welcome to think there are two.

"How's Big Momma doing?" Well, I guess Big Momma is fine she's blown up and on our boat at the lake (Big Momma is our floatation device that we pull behind our boat.) If you are referring to me, why are you calling me Big Mamma?

When asked how I am feeling and I say great or fine they LOVE to tell me, "Oh!  You just wait!  It gets worse!"  Then why ask me if you aren't going to say anything nice????

At the beginning of our pregnancy people suggested we come up with something to call the baby since we weren't going to find out the sex of the baby and we didn't want to refer to the baby as "it".  So I came up with LBR which as we all know are my initials, but it also stands for Little Baby Roden.  So for the past 30 weeks or so we have been calling  the baby LBR.  Now, that we are getting close to D-Day, and Spencer and I have names picked out for a boy or girl people like to ask what the baby's name will be.  Well, people also like to tell me it doesn't matter what you name the baby it will be LBR because that is what he/she has been called.  Ummmmm that is a big NOOOOOOOOO! This comment just does not sit well with a hormonal pregnant woman.  Why tell me to come up with LBR and then ask for the baby's possible name and then tell me you aren't going to call the baby by their name,  it's name must fit the initials of LBR? Hmmm?  Who's carrying this child?  That's right you have had your own children, let me have mine!

to be continued....

LBR's Baby Brunch

On Saturday my family and friends hosted a Baby Shower Brunch for LBR and myself.  April, Elizabeth, Laura, and Lauren did an AWESOME job!  It was absolutely perfect.  I know they spent a lot of time planning the perfect event.  I am so thankful to have such wonderful family and friends.  It was held at April's mother-in-laws loft downtown.  Such a fun place for a party.  We had a great turn out and LBR received some much needed baby supplies.  We are so blessed to have so many people in our lives to share in this exciting event.  We are also very thankful!

FES Baby Shower for LBR

On Friday my great friends at school threw me a baby shower for LBR.  The decorations looked great and the food was delish!  I am so blessed to work with such a fabulous group of ladies that I can call friends.

Less than 8 weeks to go....

So....it seems we are on the downhill side of the pregnancy.  With each passing day we are getting more and more excited about the arrival of LBR.

I have two showers coming up this weekend.  One is Friday at work and then the other is a Saturday Brunch.  I am so excited!

We have pretty much finished the nursery.  I found the bentwood rocking chair I had been looking for.  Actually, my grandmother, Joycie found it for me on Craig's List.  It is in great shape and looks as if it has hardly been used.  It goes perfectly with our theme of the nursery (eclectic).

We went for our 32 week appointment today and everything was perfectly fine.  Blood pressure looked good and I was measuring as I should.  So, we are back again in two weeks. I am beginning to get more nervous as we approach June and July.  Spencer has decided that the baby is going to come early.  That is fine with me, but I want to at least be full term, which is 37 weeks.  However, LBR will make his/her arrival when he/she are is good and ready.

I am counting down my days of work left for this school year and as of today I only have seven more!  I am so excited!  I am ready to spend my time getting things and the house ready for LBR's arrival.  I already have a major to-do list.

On a side note, I want to thank Spencer for making this Mother's Day special.  I know I am a mother-to-be, but he did take me for a delicious breakfast at The Original Pancake House and gave me a gift certificate for a manicure and pedicure.  So thoughtful and much needed!  Thank you Spencer!!

30 Weeks!

Okay, for those of you who have asked for the belly shot, I was finally able to get Spencer to take a picture of me before our doctor's appointment this morning.  It's not that he wouldn't take the picture before, I just haven't had my camera handy, or I was running late, or my hair and make-up wasn't done.  So....here this the 30 week belly shot :

LBR 044 Spencer thinks all the black runs together and you can't see much, but there for sure is a belly there.

Also, we have been working on the nursery.  There are still a few things left to do, but you can see what we have done thus far.

LBR 040 LBR's hutch.  Great for books and storage!

LBR 033

As you can see, Spencer had the Moses basket in the corner, but in the other pictures I moved it.  It will actually be in our room, once the LBR arrives.  We are still trying to figure out what we want to do above the bed, but we are a lot closer than we were.

LBR 039  This was actually Spencer's diaper changer when he was a baby.  We already had it, so we chose not to purchase one. As you can see our taste is very eclectic. I am very proud of the art above the diaper changer.  Spencer and I actually found these several years ago at a yard sale.  They are from Pottery Barn Kids and are in French.  So...I guess you could say, our theme is French Country?

28 Weeks!

Well, we have officially made it to the third trimester.  It is so crazy to me how fast time has flown by.  It seems like yesterday we found out we were going to have a little one.  Now, we are getting closer and closer everyday.  I know I have done a terrible job about post belly photos, but for some reason I cannot bring myself to do it.  I will work on it though and maybe have some to post the next time.

Last Friday, I went for my glucose test and passed without any problems.  We also had our appointment to have our 4D ultrasound done.  However, this time LBR was not so cooperative.  So I don't have very clear photos.  I have now started my two week rotation so, in a couple of weeks will be going back to the doctor for our check up as well as a retake on the 4D.

I am still feeling great!  I have the occasional lower back pain, but we all know it's because I am carrying a little extra weight around (only 12-14 pounds so far).  I am still doing my swimming and yoga class several times a week and LOVE IT!  I recommend them to anyone.

We went to one of our first classes last week.  It was on breastfeeding.  I found it very informational, but Spencer, of course, thought it could have been summed up in about 45 minutes.  Anywho...we both learned a lot and are both on the same page about what we want for our little bundle :)  We have a CPR class next week and our birthing class also begins next week.  We are so busy, no wonder the weeks are flying by.

My showers are coming up and I am super excited.  My great friends at work are giving me on May 21 and then I have friends and family on May 22.  Should be a great weekend!  My sister has also planned to throw a dipe and wipe party June 11 so Spencer can be part of the festivities.  This one will be a couples shower.

We are so much closer to having the nursery finished.  As soon as we are done I will post pictures.  I need to go and purchase the mattress and Spencer has a few things to hang on the wall.

Hopefully, next time I post I will have plenty of pics!

LBR in 4D!

image

Well we had an unexpected trip to the doctor on Tuesday.  LBR has been on my schedule for the past 5 weeks.  He/she wakes when I wake and I can feel him/her throughout the day.  Monday I didn't seem to feel as many kicks and they definitely were not as strong as they had been.  Spencer even made mention that I had not mentioned feeling the baby move.  I continued to monitor the movements, but come Tuesday morning, we still weren't back on the schedule.  Call me paranoid, but I called the doctor.  I explained the situation to him and he told me to come in for an ultra sound.  I called Spencer and told him to meet me at the doctors office.  Thankfully my grade level understands, as well as the administration and staff, and they split my class until the substitute arrived.  As soon as the tech put the monitor to my belly, she could immediately see LBR moving around.  Once we met with the doctor she told me a few tricks I could do to get the baby to move around or wake up rather.  She also said the reason I may not have felt the baby so strong was he/she was kicking to my back.  All of this makes perfect sense now, but I still feel much better going in just to make sure.  So...because of this little scare the tech flipped the switch and we were able to see LBR in 4D!  So exciting!  We go back the 16th of April for my glucose test and while we are waiting we are going to do the 4D photo session.  We cannot wait to see our little one again.  This makes it so real!

So....what's your prediction?  Boy or girl?
