Sawyer's First Christmas.....and it was White!

As we all know it hardly every snows in Alabama, but this year, on Christmas day we had snow.  It didn't stick or stay around too long, but it sure was nice to see the "white stuff."

We spent Christmas Eve with Spencer's side of the family.  Mimi, Pop, and GiGi came down for the day.  We went to a noon service at the Harrell's church, and then all came back to our house to enjoy dinner and gifts.  It was such a fun time and Sawyer loved every minute!

My parents came over right after we got up and did our little family Christmas.  Mom brought her wonderful sausage balls.  They wanted to see what Santa had brought Sawyer.  We visited for an hour or so, then they headed home and we got dressed and ready to head out to their house for Christmas and then dinner at Joycie and Dougie Boy's.

One of the highlights of Christmas this year was Santa traveling through the neighborhood on the firetruck! It was so much fun.  Sawyer got to see him as he went up the street, but then he came back by right in front of the house.  It was so fun!

We had a very Merry Christmas and are truly blessed to be able to spend this time with our families!

I'm a big girl now!

It's official....Sawyer is now eating stage one baby food and she is loving it.  A month or so ago we started her on cereal and she liked it, but she liked it better in her bottle.  Dr. Farr told us we could start on her stage one when she was around five months old.  I decided to wait a week or so after she turned five months and start it while I was off for Christmas break.  She is loving it.  We started her on sweet potatoes and then tried bananas. We have also tried sweet peas and carrots.   She is doing great and is so cute when she eats.  I have also started giving her some bananas in the morning.  She must be going through a growth spurt because she is eating about every 2 hours.

With that said, she has also started sleeping through the night.  She goes down between 7 and 8  and wakes sometime between 6 and 7.  The first night she did it, I jumped up at 5:45 because we hadn't heard from her.  She was fine, just snoozing away.

She is also able to roll on her stomach all by herself.  I also believe this is why she is sleeping so well.  She loves to sleep on her belly.  Dr. Farr said it was fine for her to sleep on her belly, because she can roll from tummy to back and back to tummy all on her own.  She is growing and changing so much.  We are loving all these new adventures.

Christmas Card Photo Shoot

A teacher friend at school, Jennifer Branham,  has started her own photography business so I had her to take Sawyer's four month photo and our Christmas card photo. I decided to just roll the three month into four months and get two things done at once.   She did a great job!  Here are a few samples:

Five Months Old....

Wow!  Time has flown by.  It is so hard for us to believe Sawyer is five months old.  She is growing like a weed and discovering new things every day.  It is so amazing to watch her grow.

Sawyer likes/does:

  • can roll from tummy to back and from back to tummy
  • loves her exersaucer
  • can entertain herself
  • cackle out loud
  • say maaaaamaaaaa (according to Mimi and Daddy)
  • eat cereal
  • sleep through the night without nursing or taking a bottle
  • go to bed while still awake and fall asleep on her own
  • recognize familiar voices and faces
  • loves her class at school and watching the other kids
  • a very social little girl, she has to know what is going on
  • very happy
  • only gets upset when she is hungry or dirty
  • loves Bella and Tater Tot

It is so fun to watch her grow.  Next week we will be starting stage one food with her.  We are going to begin with sweet potatoes.  Pictures to come.

Five Months 002

Happy Turkey Day!

I know this post is a little late, but things have been so crazy busy that I am just now getting around to blogging about Thanksgiving.  Once again we went to the farm for Thanksgiving.  We had the entire family up there, which was very nice.  We didn't have to worry about trying to get to his family and my family all in the same day.  We were all there together, including my grandparents.  I took pictures earlier in the day of Sawyer, but failed to take my camera out the rest of the time.

Sawyer was able to meet her cousin, Evie, that was born on the same as her, just in Madrid, Spain.  It was so fun to be able to have the little ones together.  On second thought, I do have pictures, they are just on my mom's camera.  Hopefully, I can update this post later with the cute pictures.  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are so blessed to be able to spend it with family!
